This age calculator gives a calendar-based age estimate. It is useful for general information, but official age eligibility may depend on the rules and cut-off date specified by an institution.
How to use the age calculator
- Select your date of birth.
- Keep the calculation date as today or choose another date.
- Select Calculate Age to see your age in years, months and days.
- Use Copy result if you want to save or share the result.
How is age calculated?
Age is calculated by comparing the date of birth with the selected calculation date. The calculator counts completed calendar years first, then completed calendar months, and finally the remaining days. This method accounts for the different lengths of months and leap years.
For example, if a person was born on 15 March 2000 and the calculation date is 20 October 2026, their calendar age is 26 years, 7 months and 5 days.
What does the result include?
- Years, months and days: Your calendar age on the selected date.
- Total months: Completed years converted to months, plus completed additional months.
- Total weeks and days: The elapsed date difference expressed in weeks and days.
- Birth weekday: The day of the week corresponding to your birth date.
- Next birthday: The next birthday date and the number of days remaining.
Leap-year birthdays
People born on 29 February have a birthday date that occurs only in leap years. For countdown purposes in a non-leap year, this calculator uses 1 March as the next birthday date. Official or legal rules may treat leap-day birthdays differently, so check the applicable rules where necessary.
Age for exams and official eligibility
If you are checking age eligibility for a government exam, job, school admission, insurance policy or other official purpose, use the exact cut-off date and eligibility rules published by the relevant authority. Do not rely only on today's age, because eligibility may be assessed on a specified date and may include category-based relaxations or other conditions.
