This tool is suitable for informal number picks, classroom activities, games and sample selection. For regulated raffles or high-stakes decisions, use an independently auditable drawing process.
What is a random number generator?
A random number generator selects values from a range according to a random or pseudorandom process. This tool uses your browser's Web Crypto API when available, with a browser fallback, and does not send your generated results to the server.
How to use this random number generator
- Enter the minimum and maximum numbers you want to include.
- Choose how many numbers to generate (1–1,000).
- Keep Unique numbers only checked if duplicates are not allowed.
- Optionally sort the results in ascending order.
- Click Generate numbers, then copy the result or download a CSV file.
How the calculation works
For a range from minimum to maximum, both endpoints are included. The number of possible integer values is:
When unique mode is enabled, the requested count cannot exceed the number of integers in the range. For example, you cannot select 8 distinct numbers from a range containing only 6 possible values.
Example
If the minimum is 1, maximum is 10 and count is 4, the generator returns four integers from 1 through 10. With unique mode enabled, all four values are different. With unique mode disabled, a value may appear more than once.
Frequently asked questions
Can the same number appear more than once?
Yes. Uncheck Unique numbers only to allow repeats. When the option is checked, each number appears at most once in a single draw.
Are the minimum and maximum included?
Yes. Both endpoints are included. A range from 1 to 6 can return 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
Why can't I generate more unique numbers than the range size?
There are not enough distinct integers available. Increase the range or lower the number of results requested.
Can I save my results?
Use Save results to keep a draw in this browser across page refreshes. You can load or delete saved draws later. Copy results and Download CSV are also available. Saved results are stored locally on this device, not in an online account.
Is this suitable for an official lottery or security token?
This is a convenience tool, not an audited lottery system. Do not rely on it alone for regulated or high-stakes drawings, cryptographic keys, passwords or security tokens.
Note: Results are generated locally in your browser. This tool is for general informational and informal use and does not certify fairness for regulated drawings.
